The occasion had become a ballet. There was even a chief ballerina when suddenly appeared among us the slender and lovely Mayotte Magnus who is perhaps the greatest portrait photographer in the world. Through the cameras, the cameramen and the makeup girls and the players and the sober auxiliaries like myself, raising her camera to us all, she circulates, her lovely legs refusing to accept that they do not belong to Merle Park and are dancing. We never had so many passers-by stopping to lean over the ropes that cut off our domain.
